Immitaion is the most sincere form of flattery

It seems there is some comercial plagerism going on here in Australia but I don’t care. A budget campervan company has created a lot of controversy today with one of their campers. Wicked Campers has pulled some stunts before but I just love this one!

A cause too far?

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

What is more important – a human or a whale life?  It seems that there are some in the anti-whaling cause that side with our aquatic cousins.  The Sea Sheppard may just be pushing things too far.  Not only are they breaching international law of the sea by colliding with another vessel, they are putting peoples lives in danger.  How many whale lives saved justify 1 dead human.  Perhaps if we could answer this, we might get somewhere in this debate.

Save the Pigs

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

How is the issue of whaling any different from that of raising livestock for human consumption? Whales are intelligent creatures. But so are pigs. Whales are beautiful, majestic animals. But that’s subjective – plenty of people think they are. The only logical arguments against whaling are 1) killing animals is wrong (shit, so much for tonights BBQ) or 2) they are endangered. If that’s the case, how can we argue against sustainable whaling?

Now its illegal but what are we going to do about it?

Reported on news.com.au the Australian Federal Court ruled that the fishing of whales in Australian waters is illegal.  Fantastic.  Too bad the Rudd government isn’t going to do anything about it except pump out more media spin.  Seems like geo-political imperatives like trade and defence override moral standards yet again.
